Villa Beemwee

Barely anything is know about this villa in the Belgian Ardennes. The building is quite small for a ‘villa’, especially compared to the other villa’s in this particular neighbourhood. Nevertheless, given the style with the ‘grand’ entrance with columns on either side and the richly decorated exterior, I think it deserves to be called a villa.

It’s hard to tell for how long it has been abandoned, but it’s obvious it hasn’t been maintained for several decades. The roof of the villa is full of holes and almost all of the wooden floors came down, taking down the only stairs in the building. At the time of our visit, the floor of the attic was hanging above our heads, being attached to only a few beams.

After the last person stopped living here, it presumably was used as a storage shed, given the lawnmower, benches, stacks of newspapers and other miscellaneous stuff.

The villa is best know for the outbuilding, containing a small living space and garage. For years a rare BMW E3 3.3Li was parked in the garage, giving this location it’s name. Short after our visit in 2017, rumour got round that the car had been stolen. We returned in 2018 and indeed, the garage was empty. It is still unclear what happened to the BMW…

It looks like the villa is being renovated at the moment (2022).
