Château LTD

Visited in 2021
Duration of visit : 1,5 hours

In the 1860’s construction of this château started. It was built for a marquis and designed by an architect who went to a well-known French art school. The architect designed several other buildings in the same, unique style as well. The château in Renaissance style is richly decorated with beautiful patterns in brick and amazing stucco. Unfortunately, due to a fire in the 1930’s the château was destroyed and never rebuilt. Only the outer walls of this ruin are still standing, yet they are slowly getting swallowed by the forest.

The château is located on private property in a huge forest, but not completely neglected. It is located only 150 meters from the house of the owner of the domain. It is a wonderful example of French architecture of the late 19th century and definitely one of my favorite châteaux when it comes to architecture!
