Krankenhaus am Wald
This hospital was a family business, it was handed down from one generation to another. It was established around the beginning of the 20th century and was specialised in internal diseases and rehabilitation of patients.
During the war, the hospital served as a military hospital. It expanded several times and offered room for 100 patients which were being treated by about 80 employees.
The organisation wasn’t doing well and had problems with finance. The high costs of maintenance and investing in new equipment was too much and the hospital went bankrupt after one century of operation. A medical organisation kept on using a small portion of the building, but moved out several years later as well.
The building has been abandoned for over a decade now and the roof has started to leak in several places. Some rooms look untouched and clean, while others are filled with mold. The municipality wants to see something done with the old hospital, but it seems to be a difficult task that not many are willing to take on.
