Navy Graveyard

Visited in 2021
Duration of visit : 1 hour

Welcome to the Navy Graveyard, here the navy stores their decommissioned vessels pending demolition. At the time of my visit there were eight ships on the graveyard.

In the distance, you can see two P400 patrol vessels, both decommissioned in 2017. Then we’ve got three mine hunters, which were decommissioned in 2018. The other vessels are the “Lieutenant de Vaisseau Lavallée” (decommissioned 2018), “Albatros” (decommissioned 2015) and the 139m long anti-submarine frigate “Primauguet” (out of sight on the picture on the left) which got decommissioned in 2019.

It’d be cool to go on board like some explorers do, but I rather not risk getting spotted by patrols and didn’t fancy rowing in the strong current and having to climb the ship like a monkey above the water. Due to strong winds and rain I didn’t fly the drone here, but the touristic viewpoint offered a good view from above 🙂
