Château des Singes

Duration of visit : 1,5 hours
Somewhere in the French countryside in a small village lies this vacated château. It was built in the 17th century and has quite an unique design. Featuring a beautiful entry hall with a stunning staircase and well-decorated rooms, this famous abandoned château attracts urbexers from all over Europe.
It looks like they did some preperations for a renovation someday; on the first floor most of the rooms have been stripped and on the ground floor too you can find some gutted walls.
The left wing has been in ruins for over a decade and the right wing has a leaking roof, resulting in a lot of decay in this part of the château. Like always, maintaining an old château is definitely not for the poor. For decades this château has been neglected, although it is said that a caretaker lived in one of the rooms until 2012, with just a few portable heaters to keep him warm.
