Built during the Cold War, this tunnel had a special function. In case of a power cut off, a train would be driven inside consisting of mobile transformers and convertors, ensuring power to the railway. Hidden in a forest, this tunnel is hard to spot. Only a little used path leading into the bushes will reveal this tunnel.
I approached this tunnel through the forest from the back. A concrete structure loomed between the trees. I entered the tunnel through the air shaft from the top, going down the sketchy ladders in the pitchblack hole.
In the tunnel there were still some old maintenance carts on the tracks and a pile of camouflage nets was laying at the end. Everything valuable was already taken from the tunnel, but luckily it was quite spared from vandalism. When I wanted to exit at the front I figured out why there was so little vandalism; the front door was closed. The only way in and out was the ladder in the pitchblack shaft, keeping out some less adventurous guests.
Luckily, this country never came in war and the tunnel never got used.
